The deep of summer offers a perfect opportunity to reset and rejuvenate.
When you reset, you start anew in a calmer and more present state than the one in which you’ve been operating during the previous weeks with their frenetic pace.
As life becomes chaotic and you’re overwhelmed by daily challenges, you may experience burnout and negative stress. That’s just when you can easily begin developing a consistent practice of resetting your mind and body, which can help you regain the focus and energy that enhances productivity in your personal and professional life.
Resetting is vital for your well-being, motivating you to discover better ways to work with stress and improve your overall quality of life. This process helps you see how you have been neglecting your self-care, putting you at risk of burnout and the snowball effect of negative consequences.
You can practice a number of different techniques for resetting. I myself have several favorite activities important to my own successful reset. You might consider any of these for your own reset practice: Meditation, exercise, mindfulness techniques, digital detoxing, cycling, spending time with loved ones, working in the yard, reading for pleasure, and learning a new language.
When you feel overwhelmed and stress-filled, it's crucial that you prioritize your well-being by scheduling time for activities that help promote relaxation in your life. Here are some other ways to de-stress: Body massage, a mud bath, luxuriating baths of varied temperatures, water floating, a walk in the park, and learning to cook a new meal and having friends over to enjoy the meal with you.
If you thrive on routine and being on a schedule, be intentional about incorporating these activities into your calendar. Treat them with the same commitment as a doctor's appointment or picking up your child from school. Reserve dedicated time for your well-being and self-care. Additionally, if you find value in tracking your progress, maintain a journal to monitor your journey from week to week or month to month. Observing your progress can serve as motivation and hold you accountable to your “self”.
Resetting is an essential skill that empowers you to navigate daily stressors and prevent burnout. Remember to prioritize your well-being and make this practice a regular habit in your life. Over time, you will experience an improved overall quality of life.
Wishing you a delightful rest of your summer!
